The revised plans for new terrace were unveiled after an initial feedback from council planners. The proposal was initially introduced in 2010. Current plans have reduced the height, capacity and footprint of the new stand terrace. Provision of corporate facilities within the new stand has also been eliminated.

The current 6,000-seat terrace will be expanded to accommodate 6,500 people under the new plans. The new facility will include new male and female toilets, increased access for disabled supporters, baby changing facilities, new alternative changing rooms and improved concession areas for supporters. The height of the redeveloped structure would be 15.5 metres, which is four metres lower than previously proposed.

The new design is also expected to enhance the current St Michaels Lane street with the new South Stand being set back 6.5m from St Michaels Lane as compared with the existing Stand.

The new design plans are currently on display at Carnegie Café Bar at the stadium till 18 April 2011, after which they will be submitted to the council. Once approved, the project could take approximately 10 months to complete.

The current South Stand was built in 1932. It was first renovated in 2000 at a cost of £1 million ($1.6 million) with further works in 2008 costing £250,000 ($406, 725).
