Designed by Scottsdale-based Swaback Partners, the idea of the Camp Lodge was inspired by National Park lodges and established clubs of the 1900s having a lifespan of 100 years or more. Located atop a 70-foot rock outcropping overlooking the 18th hole of the Tom Fazio-designed golf course, the Camp Lodge offers panoramic 270-degree views of the Carson Range, Lookout Mountain and the Sierra Crest.

The design of the Camp Lodge has attempted to maximise the real indoor and outdoor feeling through a floor plan. The west side of the Camp Lodge is located on the edge of a natural rock outcropping, providing an opportunity to open most of the indoor spaces to bring the outdoors in. To capitalize on nature’s landscape design, terraces that cantilevered over the cliffs were created, affording panoramic views.

Asphalt roof shingles were incorporated in a varied pattern along with green stained cedar exterior wall shingles and black stained fascia trim boards to provide a timeless colour scheme to the exterior. Indigenous grey granite rock walls and copper trim details complement the timeless theme and are part of a pallet of the finest materials available.

The interior design throughout the Camp Lodge evokes an arts and crafts feel with quilted patchwork upholstered ceilings ranging from neutral tans and browns in the grand entry living room, to deeper reds, greens and purples in the Cliff room, an octagonal dining room that anchors the western point of site. The interiors of the building were created by Scottsdale-based Vallone Design.

The Camp Lodge will also feature four indoor dining rooms and five patio areas, an art gallery, a full-service day spa offering a host of massage and therapeutic treatments, outdoor lap and vitality pools, men’s and ladies’ locker rooms, fitness area, golf shop and community post office. Original artwork of the Sierras in addition to other works will adorn the Gallery Hallway with the rest of the clubhouse spaces to feature a mix of appropriately influenced art in the ladies’ locker room and spa to more naturally themed art for the men’s locker room and fitness studios.
