The project for the construction of the building was a design-build one and had been secured by Jacobs and Hensel Phelps Construction Co. The multi-storey structure spanning 99,460 square feet comprises 280-rooms with a capacity to accommodate about 420 sailors.
The base is equipped with Deco Lighting’s 100,000 hour life Induction fixtures. The lighting system saves energy consumption by 60% as well as provides reduction in maintenance costs. The luminaires also provide high quality illumination, enhancing clarity and safety.
The building also incorporates a highly-efficient wastewater management system. Aging sewage lift stations has been replaced with new operations and maintenance amenities. Pump station controls and emergency generators has been put in the place of structures hardened for typhoons whereas a system for supervisory control and data acquisition that feeds back to the base system at the Apra Harbor plant has been constructed for all stations.
