The hall serves as housing for the students of Georgetown University. Upgrades include substituting old windows with new ones, installation of energy-efficient fluorescent bulbs and removal of asbestos used earlier for insulation purposes.
Water consumption in the bathrooms of the remodelled facility has been reduced via installation of dual flush toilets. The new structure also features shower stall drains with enhanced durability to cut down standing water amount following use.
The building’s kitchens and bathrooms incorporate new exhaust systems as well as new cabinets formed of Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood following the facelift. Further, Energy Star eligible products have taken the place of old appliances.
Phase two will involve overhaul of the building’s exterior portion and courtyard area. It is expected to commence by September 2011.
