The scope of the project includes construction of an ATC tower and 10 other buildings. This project is funded by the Ministry of Transport and Communication. The entire project is slated for completion in October 2012.

The project will build a new 97 meter high Air Traffic Control Tower. The construction of the ATC is anticipated to be completed by April 2012. TPS has roped in Mott Macdonald for the construction of ATC. Upon completion, the tower will the tallest occupied building in Muscat.

The remaining ten buildings will have a contingency and training center, fire and sea rescue buildings and an air transport management complex.

The air transportation management facility comprises three buildings and will consist of gyms, workshops, laboratories, a studio to broadcast weather forecasts and an area to watch air traffic controllers.

The contingency and training centre will have several ancillary facilities such as laboratories, offices, studios, classrooms, staff welfare facility, workshops and an auditorium with a seating capacity for about 100 persons and simulators.
