The stadium is the first completely enclosed grassed stadium in the world that has been designed by a joint venture between Jasmax and Populou. The construction of the project was done by Hawkins Construction.
The stadium has been designed to host different sporting events including rugby, basketball and netball, trade fairs, concerts and other big events. The stadium has relocatable seats that facilitate flexibility in seating arrangement as per the requirement of the events. The stadium, in full capacity, can seat 30,748 people for sporting events and can seat 35,000 people for concerts.
The seating of the stadium has been divided into four stands- east, west, north and south. The West stands feature removable seats, while the North and East stands have a combination of permanent and removable seats and the South stand has only permanent seats. The roof of the stadium was built using clear ETFE (Ethylene TetrafluoroEthylene Co-Polymer) foil. ETFE is a clear, transparent and recyclable foil that can transmit up to 95% of light falling on it.
