The upgraded pool has been designed by ADD Inc Miami’s architect Jonathan Cardello. It will be adorned with new materials, textures, and lighting fixtures which offer a contemporary twist on the Miami Modern and Art Deco history. A walkway featuring white exterior walls and ceilings wrapped up in real vines, banquettes comprising pillows in shades of yellow and orange and glass guardrails leads to the new pool.
The pool area will comprise a diving board, originally built in 1940. Another unique feature of the new infinity pool includes a floating concrete spiral staircase comprising a luminescent bubble roof. The design of the roof will replicate the original structure created by Morris Lapidus. This staircase will take the guests to the new catwalk bridge fitted with railings made of glass. The pool area will also incorporate an upper VIP sun deck and cabanas featuring private shower facilities.
The pool complex sports striped pavers in contrasting shades of black and white. The pavers are encompassed by tall palm trees to accentuate the beauty. Construction work on the pool area is slated for completion by 2011 end.
