The project has been designed by Richard C. Lambert Consultants. The exterior of the airport is equipped with Kim Lighting Architectural Floodlights following the overhaul. The floodlights comprise horizontal spot reflectors which highlight the façade’s relief and the sculptured friezes. Further, a spot reflector has been fixed at a definite mounting point and angle to illuminate The Spirit of Aviation sculpture located over the main entrance of the terminal.

The front as well as side entryways of the terminal incorporate Architectural Area Lighting’s exterior wall sconces. These sconces comprise a customised screen styled by Paul Dimitrios which is adorned with motif used in the original 1929 architectural design. The rear facade of the terminal is also equipped with Devine Lighting’s B700 series Down light cylinders, otherwise termed the Mack Truck of cylinders. The fixtures are designed to withstand various adversities such as tropical storms and the local coastal atmosphere.

The front and side canopies as well as the exterior porticos of the terminal are lit up by Prescolite’s Architektur series down lighting comprising compact fluorescent lamps. The original Gonzalez murals, retail units, offices, and the bar space inside the terminal are illuminated with the help of Kurt Versen’s specification grade down lighting.

Lighting systems from Columbia Lighting are installed in lobby area, offices, and kitchen of the terminal complemented by linear fluorescent fixtures throughout the first and second floor of the perimeter of the lobby. Columbia’s Zero Plenum Troffers from createchange series of luminaries are fitted in the offices comprising grid ceilings. The main work space of the kitchen features wet location troffers while its secondary areas including pantry, telephone rooms, mechanical rooms, and storage rooms use commodity fluorescent fixtures. Progress Lighting’s wall sconces are installed along a corridor leading to the tower on the terminal top. The exit signs are powered by Dual-Lite Life Safety’s LED Edge.

The Kim, AAL, and Devine lighting systems imbibe energy-efficient pulse-start systems which make them low maintenance, offer enhanced life cycle, slash warm-up time, enhance colour consistency and generate more lumens every watt.

The airport is scheduled for completion by mid-2012.
