Work involved raising the number of immigration and passport control counters in departures and arrivals to 34, overhaul of the boarding gates, as well as an upgrage to the airline lounge. The facility has also been adorned with newly-treated floors, wall, and ceilings as part of the project. Further, the lighting fixtures, way-finding systems and air conditioning units have been upgraded while the seating spaces have been enhanced.
The Satellite Building of the terminal has now increased its restroom amenities. The retail units and food and beverage section has been expanded and remodelled. The interior of the business class lounge has been redesigned. There has also been creation of a new first-class lounge following the makeover. Other new features of the improved building include expanded and renovated catering and kitchen facilities, extra arrival and departure desks and upgraded vestibule entry in addition to expansion of check in counters by 40%.
The project is expected to raise the annual passenger handling capacity of the terminal to over 20 million.
