The new building, spanning 72,000 square feet, will substitute the former 38,500 square feet facility. Among its various units include the produce, prepared foods and deli, meat and seafood, expanded bakery, floral, expanded international foods, Nature’s Promise Marketplace, and grocery sections.
The facility will further comprise a bank wing, a curbside pick-up area, a tree house dedicated for children with various types of toys and games, and a pair of check-out lanes to facilitate both adults and kids. Free Wi-Fi and internet access will be offered throughout. The building will also be equipped with multiple advanced shopping tools such as SCAN IT! Mobile and ORDER IT! deli kiosks.
The store will sport a host of green features including a white roof which will act as a heat repellent reducing the energy needed for cooling. Presence of LED lighting and occupancy sensor-controlled fluorescent lighting fixtures will further reduce energy usage. The building will also allow maximum natural light penetration using skylights and also comprises an Energy Management System to keep a check on the energy consumed by lighting, refrigeration, and HVAC units.
The facility will be fitted with a high-performance New DuctSox ventilation system and low air return in frozen aisles to upasgrade indoor air quality. Refrigerated systems with ECM motors and walk-in-coolers is expected to slash electricity wastage by 33%.
The store will be equipped with low-flow fixtures which are expected to cut down water usage by more than 35%. It will also comprise an efficient storm water management system. Use of eco-friendly cleaning methods, and low VOC paints, adhesives and sealants will add to the building’s sustainability.
