The lighting fixtures are powered by LEDs. A total of 14 mast systems of the airport ranging between 13.5 metres to 21 metres in height are fitted with these LED lights. The luminaires abide by ICAO and EN 12464-2 norms and help illuminate a 49,000 square metre area.

The installation of the new lighting fixtures has led to a fall in the airport’s carbon footprint and energy usage by 70%, thus helping to reduce maintenance costs. The technology lights up only a particular area and in reduces light pollution by lowering the rate of scattered light diffusion in the atmosphere. In addition, the apron lighting reacts rapidly and comes with various control options including the infinitely variable control which allows the light flux to be dimmed.
