The new building has been designed by JM Architects and is being developed by Aberdeen-based Pihl UK. It will be located next to the current Cowes High School to facilitate business and enterprise education.

The facility will incorporate a host of green features. It will be equipped with a wind turbine as well as solar panels which will generate power for the school. Installation of a reclaimed water system will add to the sustainability factor by reducing water consumption.

The structure will be covered with a brown roof which is slated to be the biggest brown roof in the UK. The roof will feature over 120 species of plants while imbibing butterfly boxes and bee hives. This will allow the creation of an outdoor learning area. The facility will further house community amenities.

The building is scheduled to open in mid-2012.
