The new structure is located on the western portion of the existing Harrison County Courthouse. It spans over an area of 15,000 square feet while encompassing two floors. The facility is made of reinforced steel and brick. Among its various features are large courtrooms, contemporary offices, security cameras, a pair of holding cells and locks which restrict visitors entry into off-limits zones.
The facility’s main courtroom has a maximum seat capacity of 75 to 90 whereas its smaller courtroom has a maximum seat capacity of 25. It also houses a glass-enclosed office fitted with windows to facilitate business with deputy clerks and visitors.
The project has been funded through a Mississippi Development Authority grant.
