The escalator serving as a liaison between the arrival and departure halls of the terminal will be phased out to make room for passenger movement. The project will also involve substitution of four comfort rooms at the arrival lobby, and one comfort room located at the arrival extension space.
There will be demolition and shifting of the Duty Free shops positioned at the convergence point of the two arrival concourses following the makeover. The offices behind these shops such as the office of the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group and the Day Room will be moved to a different floor as part of the project. The relocation of the offices will enhance the area for arriving passengers.
The remodelled facility will feature new immigration counters at the arrival zone. The arrivals area will further be equipped with inclined walk-a-lators to facilitate movement of travellers with baggage carts from the arrival floor down to arrival extension space. In addition, the structural components of the terminal will be retrofitted to help it withstand earthquakes of high magnitude.
The project is expected to have a minimum duration of 18 months.
