The project will convert six square blocks of the town into a regional medical centre. The new hospital will span 220,000 square feet while encompassing six floors. It will be linked with the current building.

The new facility will consist of a two-level maternity centre, as well as an emergency wing addition comprising new entryway. It will also house 12 labour and delivery recovery suites, 25 postpartum/15 bassinets, 36 med/surg telemetry beds, 30 Med/Surg Beds, and three cath labs.

Other features of the new facility include endo suite with two rooms, kitchen and cafe, imaging centre, loading dock, a pair of future operating rooms, and a rooftop heliport.

The project will be partly financed through a $110 million bond issue.
