The project will raise the size of the 404-bed hospital’s emergency wing from 25,000 to 59,000 square feet. Work on the facility is due to be over by 2014 end. The lobby will increase its size to 18,000 square feet which is thrice its existing size. The lobby construction is due for completion by 2015 end. The radiation wing of the hospital will also undergo an expansion from 4,700 square feet to 24,000 square feet by early 2015. Further, the intensive care department will be revamped and expanded to 45,000 feet. Work on this unit is scheduled to be finished by 2015 end.
There will be creation of 42 high-walled patient exam rooms, and new trauma rooms fitted with advanced technology following the expansion. The new building will also sport a computerised system for paperless electronic medical record keeping throughout all areas of the emergency wing. In addition, the hospital will now be designed to offer maximum penetration of natural light.
