The Parman Branch Library, which opened almost an year ago, is the first library and the first city-owned building in San Antonio to win LEED Gold certification. The library was designed by San Antonio-based architectural firm Marmon Mok Architecture. The project was constructed by Swinerton Builders.
The 17,000 square feet library has been designed and built in a way that it saves both energy and water. Construction of the building involved usage of natural materials found in the region. The construction team ensured preservation of the ecosystem that surrounds the building, as stated by the Business Journal.
Following the completion of construction, the library has been verified by an independent third-party company to ensure that the building was built according to stringent environmental-design standards.
