The project has been designed by Faulkner Brown with Alistair Stripp as the lead designer. BAM Construct served as the main contractor. The exterior of the 1920s six-level structure has been retained in its original form. The building’s interior has now incorporated a contemporary style comprising 24/7 IT cluster suites, bank, shops, and a performance space.
The servicing of the IT equipment inside the various student study spaces and hot desks of the building called for a large twin compartment cable data management system sporting a good sized bend radius. This resulted in the installation of the Marshall-Tufflex’s Twin165. It is strong and CAT 6A compliant medium-sized PVC-U trunking split to offer 60% space for power delivery and 40% for data supplies.
Twin165 features a bend radius of 50mm with adjustable internal and external bends to allow better navigation in irregularities, corners and angles. It also facilitates future-proof installations.
The renovated facility has bagged the Education Interior Design Awards 2011.
