The project has been designed by Kahler Slater with Whiting Turner serving as the construction manager. The new building will cover an area of 67,500 square feet while encompassing four floors. It will comprise a pair of advanced cardiac catheterization labs, a third vascular ultrasound procedure room for testing of the lower extremities, and physician offices for Cardiology and Pulmonology/Critical Care.

The facility will also offer non-invasive cardiac services including nuclear medicine, stress testing and echocardiograms, Cardiac Rehabilitation, as well as support services for cardiology like Diabetes Education and Nutrition Counseling. The project will also involve a revamp of 19,000 square feet of the current hospital.

The project will be funded by reserves. The new centre is expected to be completed by early 2013.
