The project has been designed by Cannon Design with Turner Construction and LP Ciminelli serving as the contractors. Work was completed in a duration of about two years.
The vascular institute and research facility, situated next to the Buffalo General Medical Centre (BGMC), encompasses ten floors. The vascular institute spreads over four levels which offer surgical and interventional management of cardiac, vascular and neurological conditions. The institute features a specialized intensive care unit with a bed capacity of 16, as well as a as well as a short-stay suite comprising 62 beds. The vascular institute and BGMC jointly sport a new emergency department, a new helipad, 610 beds, 28 operating rooms, 17 interventional labs, four CT scanners and four MRIs.
The CTRC is housed in the building’s top four stories. The fifth level features the Jacobs Institute.
The project has been supported by a partnership between UB, a public university, and Kaleida Health, a private entity.
