The new research facility is situated on Imperial’s Hammersmith Campus, alongside Hammersmith Hospital and encompasses six floors. It comprises lab space to house up to 450 scientists. It also features a dedicated facility which helps evaluate and develop new medical treatments through clinical trials.
The building’s upper levels feature one of the largest cardiovascular research facilities in Europe, which include the headquarters of the British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence at Imperial. Teams from the Medical Research Council Clinical Sciences Centre accommodate its second storey which has been equipped with latest gene sequencing machine.
The ground level of the building houses the Wellcome Trust–McMichael Clinical Research Facility which consists of two wards. The property also accommodates the Imperial Cancer Research UK Centre.
The project has been supported by the British Heart Foundation, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, the Medical Research Council and Wellcome Trust.
