The new Avondale Meadows Health & Wellness Center will be located within the existing Avondale Meadows Community on the north-eastern side of the city. The new facility will encompass an area of 70,000 square feet and will entail an investment of $20 million.
The new wellness centre will accommodate 18,000 square feet health clinic that will be operated by HealthNet and a 32,000 square feet YMCA. The Center will also have early learning classrooms for children.
The centre will surround a five to seven acre active use park with ball fields, community gardens and walking/biking trails, which is likely to evolve as the centerpiece of the 100-acre Avondale Meadows development. The scheme will be developed with severe compliance with environmental criterion and will be built to the LEED Silver certification standards.
The centre will also run youth mentoring and family programs. In tandem with these, the Avondale Meadows Health & Wellness Center will also serve as headquarters for the United Northeast Community Development Corporation (UNECDC) and the Meadows Community Foundation (MCF).
