Pursuant to the contract, the contractor will build a new 23,800 square feet auditorium, which will be built within the grounds of Pine City Junior Senior High School at 1400 Main St. S., Pine City. Located on the southwest corner of school, the new facility will have a seating capacity of 700 and will also include band and choir rooms.
Designed by Minneapolis-based ARY Architects Inc., the auditorium will consist of a large space, which can be used as a single assembly space, or can be divided into two learning areas through movable partition. The multi-purpose space will accommodate large groups as well as band and choir concerts.
The auditorium will feature a quality sound system. Each seat will be aligned and the walls will be constructed in a way that every person can see and hear the activities on the stage. The design will also eliminate any echo or sound distortion.
The building will have a large lobby area, which will be used as exhibit space and gathering space. The lobby will also accommodate rest rooms. Construction is scheduled for completion by December 2013. The cost of the scheme will be borne by the voters approved school bonds.
