The new healthcare facility is being developed at 6901 Simmons Loop Road in Riverview. The four-level hospital will be a 325,000-square-feet building, and will house 90 private patient suites, 22 observation rooms and six operation suites. The emergency centre will offer 32 private rooms.
The hospital will also have 16-bed intensive care unit for patients with complex medical and surgical needs; two 30-bed medical/surgical units with all private rooms; and a 14-bed Mother/Baby Unit, which will also include 10-bassinet nursery.
The new hospital will offer a full-service, acute-care hospital offering emergency care, women’s services, surgery, intensive care as well as physician offices, diagnostic imaging and laboratory services. The facility will also accommodate an interventional cardiac cath and imaging lab. The hospital is slated to open in early 2015.
The project also involves development of an 80,000-square-feet medical office building and a freestanding 40,000-square-feet physician office building, which are scheduled to open in early 2013.
The new building will have three entrances, with the main entrance located on Simmons Loop Road; and second and third entrances from Big Bend Road to the north and Lincoln Road to the east. The hospital will be the first not-for-profit hospital built to serve southern Hillsborough County.
St. Joseph’s Hospital-South will be part of BayCare Health System, a community based health system in the Tampa Bay area.
