The new school will be constructed on the former Long Lane council depot, which will provide more space and better access than the current site in Walton.
Subject to planning permission, the new school will be a sustainable property, which will feature solar panelled roof to generate electricity. It will feature a theatre, recording and dance studies, and basketball courts.
The school is part of the Council’s plan to rebuild and refurbish the schools that was put on hold when the national Building Schools for the Future programme was cancelled in 2010.
The scheme is procured through New York-based Scape and engineered by infrastructure and business services group Mouchel. The school will open in time for the start of the academic year in September 2014.
