Consisting of 100,000 gross square footage of space, the design-build project is the second phase of the University’s student housing expansion plan. Upon completion the project will feature 396 beds, spacious recreation and lounge areas along with a coffee house, named as the ‘Freudian Sip’, as well as study areas and laundry facilities.

Adding to that, for residents, the new student housing community will also include rooms for living, studying and socialising.

Cultivating a campus lifestyle appropriate for freshman students, the new student housing project focuses on community elements within the complex such as a community kitchen, a classroom and learning centre, a recreation lounge and multipurpose room, as well as outdoor courtyards with fire pits, barbeques, seating and activity spaces, and an extended patio space.

The new CSUN Phase two Housing is designed to provide a variety of open spaces to encourage socialisation, and living clusters sized and configured to allow students to become part of a family structure where they feel connected and supported.

With this project, the university will complete about 800 beds spaces, which is roughly one-third of the total masterplan goal of approximately 2500 beds in total. The second phase of the project will be the southernmost housing development on the north end of the campus.

Construction is slated to begin on the site in October 2013 while completion is anticipated by April 2015.
