Estimated to cost £1.9 million ($2.89 million), the refurbishment project includes the renovation of a number of Queen’s University Belfast’s lecture theatres in the Lanyon and Geography Buildings on the Main site. It also includes the upgrade of the Ashby Building on the Stranmillis Road.
In addition, the project also includes the refurbishment of a large tiered lecture theatre in the David Keir Building, home to the Schools of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Architecture, Planning and Civil Engineering, and Psychology.
Supporting University’s approach to collaborative learning, a new student hub will be created adjacent to the lecture theatre, which will promote both independent and group study while also encourage student social interaction.
Works on the project will start in May 2013 and will last for approximately 30 weeks, which upon completion, will provide modern facilities as well as encourage student social interaction.
