BS8300:2009 contains the correct requirement of a maximum opening force of 30N between 0-30 degrees and a maximum of 22.5N between 30-60 degrees.
However many people still refer to the original Approved Document M which had different requirements – this has now been updated by the govenrment online, to come into line with BS8300.
