Watching your colleagues hunched double over their desk could soon be a thing of the past if your office invests in the new posture improving Lordo chair range from Dauphin. The company’s new Lordo swivel chair has a backrest made from flexible elastic straps which maintain a graphic yet transparent and airy look at all times.
The backrest, consisting of Lycra and polyester threads was designed specifically for the Lordo. Sitting on it is surprisingly comfortable, as its appearance is arguably rather austere. The backrest has a 10cm height adjustment range. The chair’s armrests are also width, height and depth adjustable.
Another feature of the chair which allows for good posture is its Synchro-Dynamic mechanism, an automated weight compensation feature that allows a permanently balanced seated posture. This works along side the elasticated backrest to offer support that meets individual needs.
Designer Martin Ballendat summarized the chair’s invention when he said, “What irritates me about a lot of modern, so-called intelligent products is the fact that they always try and tell me what to do. Take high-tech cars, for example. They annoyingly beep and toot if you’ve forgotten to fasten your seat belt or if you do anything out of the ordinary. This is not my idea of quality of life or convenience.
“The very same principle can be applied to an office chair. The chair should make the person sitting on it feel good but without forcing them to adopt a specific posture or disciplining them in ergonomics. I want to be able to slouch whenever I want. I’d like the chair to adjust to my body and not the other way around.”
Other chairs in the range include the Lordo cantilever, which is stackable, and the Lordo executive conference chair, which has non-adjustable arms.
