The newly proposed Los Angeles Event Center will draw inspiration from the Dallas Cowboys new stadium and will feature 40 field-level suites among its 218 luxury boxes. With the new stadium facility, AEG wants to bring the NFL back to Los Angeles.
The venture includes Wasserman Media Group CEO, Casey Wasserman, along with AEG president and CEO Tim Leiweke. The project is planned to be completed by 15 August 2015.
The new event centre will feature 160 traditional suites and 18 larger event rental skyboxes with 48 to 90 seats. Elevated suites on the south end will be designed to be flexible and can be converted into meeting room for the adjacent convention centre.
The 72,000-seat stadium with 14,700 club seats is designed to achieve LEED certification. The facility has the flexibility to expand to 76,250 for mega-events such as the Super Bowl, NCAA football games, FIFA World Cup finals and NCAA Final Four.
The issuance of Request for Proposals (RFP) is the first of several critical steps AEG must complete in the next four to five years before its targeted opening. AEG needs to find a stadium designer, complete all of the environmental reviews, find a construction company, and get approval from the city. The company should also find an NFL team which is interested in moving to the new stadium facility.
