Jacksonville State University’s board of trustees has approved a $800,000 renovation to the stadium. The urgent need for repair was realized while constructing a dormitory and additional seating to the stadium.
The trustees had to choose from three options available. The first option was to install the necessary support piers under the section, along with some cosmetic repairs on the bleachers. The second option involved cosmetic repairs to the stadium, excluding repair to the seats. The third option, which has now been approved for implementation, involves total replacement of the entire section of the stadium. The third option is the most expensive as it involves an extensive makeover to the stadium.
The first renovation to the stadium took place in 2005, when artificial turf was placed in time for the 2005 football season. In early 2007, a new scoreboard with video screens was placed over the seats in the east end zone.
