Central Los Angeles Area High School #9, built for the Los Angeles Unified School District, reflects the creativity of the students through the architecture of its buildings. The school comprises four academies — education in music, dance, theatre arts and visual arts.

The architecture of the school features a campus with dramatic buildings that look like sculptures. The design made use of Alcoa’s recyclable composite metal panels, Reynobond ACM material, in a Gray Velvet color on all the academy and art building facades, on the exterior of the lobby, lobby canopy and pop-out windows as well as on the skylights and other areas on the library and theater.

The MCA President’s Awards honors member companies, architects, contractors and fabricators that help achieve innovative, creative building design.
