Organized by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers/The Institution of Structural Engineers Joint Structural Division (HKIE/IStructE JSD), the Structural Excellence Award celebrates excellence in structural engineering and achievement by structural engineers in Hong Kong.

Stonecutters Bridge by global design practice Arup has been honored with Grand Award in the Hong Kong Projects Infrastructure Category. With a main span of 1,018m, it is the second-longest cable-stayed bridge in the world. The innovative bridge design provides a vertical clearance of 73.5 meters over the navigation channel. The bridge straddles the Rambler Channel at the entrance to the Kwai Chung container terminals, providing a landmark gateway to one of the world’s most vibrant trade centers.

The Masterpiece is a 280m tall, high-end residential mixed-use development. It has been honored with the top accolade in the Hong Kong Projects Composite and Commercial Buildings Category. With an aspect ratio of 12, it is currently considered to be the most slender building in Hong Kong that does not employ a damping system. The tower also has the merit to be the first in Hong Kong to use a pre-cast façade. The use of pre-cast façade helped in reducing construction waste and in-situ concreting.
