The size of the new Wellington facility is comparable to 12 full size netball courts. The facility has New Zealand’s biggest sprung sports flooring. The new sport center has a rectangular seating arrangement which can accommodate 2200 spectators around the field and has a parking space with a capacity of over 300 vehicles. Apart from sports ground and sprung sports flooring, the facility also has conference rooms and a big area for social activity, which will be available to people on hire basis.
The Kilbirnie center will be used for hosting different community recreational activities, school programs and indoor sports. In the near term, several sports control rooms, cafe and offices will also be integrated with the facility. The facility will be used for indoor training for all Wellington-based teams during the Rugby World Cup.
