Designed by Canadian design firm Launch by Design, the 2010 HD Award has honored the interior design of the Atlantis Kids Adventures under the Open Category.
The firm has designed a state-of-the-art kids club incorporated with a host of technical features and educational activities. The space is distinct for the use of a range of colors and materials to appeal to the kids.
The areas dedicated to 3-5 years-olds are designed as linked play rooms, collectively called the Imagination Station. This area is equipped with a child-sized Victorian play house, grocery store, construction zone and themed wizardology room with a talking tree.
There are separate activity areas exclusively for 6-12 year-olds too. The space features a Culinary Room designed to allow children to cook with professional chefs. The Games Room and the Computer Lab are integrated with the latest gaming systems. An Arts and Crafts Room is also housed, featuring an interactive iTable where children can create art. The Performance Area features a stage with blinking lights, red velvet stage, and motion sensor screens and projectors.
The washrooms are also designed to be notable with individually themed stalls, in-house designed graphics and matching sound effects.
The Hospitality Design Awards Gala was held on June 9, 2010 at Hudson Theatre in New York City. The Hospitality Design (HD) magazine, published 10 times a year is the trade magazine serving the field of hospitality design.
