The airport features a new integrated international terminal, which features facilities such as aerobridges that allows the passengers to directly walk into the airport’s arrival lounge from the aircraft post landing. The airport’s baggage clearance area has received upgrades making it more spacious, and the conveyor belts now work quicker.

The AAI has added amenities such as international standard cafeteria, refurbished waiting lobbies with Wi-Fi hotspots, banking facilities, elevators and more. Changes have also been made in the announcement system, which now features a much clear voice of the announcer.

Peter Abraham, general manager of the Mangalore International Airport, stated that all the amendments have been made according to the international standards and the airport was one of the best technologically integrated airports, he added.

Abraham stated that the new terminal building was ready for use, with slots allotted to each of the airlines; the airlines are working on the integration of their respective offices. He also compared the new terminal to that of the other international airports in India and said that it was up to their standards with features such as aerobridges, elevators, escalators, easier exit and entry into airport from the car park area that have been scientifically designed, but only smaller in size. He also added that even though there are only two aerobridges, provision to install more, if needed, has already been made at the new terminal.

The Mangalore airport has five aircraft bays at the new terminal and five more at the existing terminal. The old terminal building is slated to take up the arrival and departure operations at short notices, once the operations are shifted to the new building.
