The project will be developed by Charlotte’s BE&K Building Group. Work will include expansion of the emergency unit by over twice its existing area from 9,500 square feet to 20,500 square feet.
The revamped emergency wing will comprise 26 private treatment rooms, a pair of consultation rooms, a decontamination room along with five waiting rooms. The department will also be fitted with advanced equipments as part of the overhaul project.
The cooling and emergency-power facilities of the hospital will be improved following the makeover. Other features of the project include installation of noise and dust barriers to reduce noise transfer.
A funding of $1.5 million has already been contributed by Beaufort philanthropist Bruce Pratt for the renovation work. The project is expected to be completed within 14 months.
