The contract for the building overhaul was secured by Spartanburg-based J.M. Solesbee Construction. The revamped facility will house a 47,000 square feet office for DSS comprising a large waiting section, cubicles, classrooms as well as visiting rooms. It is equipped with advanced systems which improves security services across the entire facility. The office sports shades of natural tans, greens and browns.

The Veterans Affairs and the Clemson Extension will be housed in a building spanning 8,000 square feet, located on an outparcel that was originally the home of a Blockbuster video rental store. The plaza also comprises an Advance America cash advance centre and a Family Dollar store. The centre encompasses an area of over 8 acres and features a parking area with a capacity of 350.

The buildings have been equipped with several green features which include installation of low-flow plumbing fixtures, new rooftop HVAC units and remote climate control systems. Other sustainable features include use of low-VOC paint and economizers to better the quality of air as well as adorning the buildings with carpeting made from recycled materials.
