The new GBP166 million ($255.2 million approx) will announce the short listed candidates by August 2010, and a preferred architect will be appointed in November 2010.

The competition requires the participating architects to design a film and television center and new headquarters for the BFI on a car park near the London Eye. Currently, BFI’s offices and cinemas are split between two sites -on the South Bank and – on Stephen Street off Tottenham Court Road. The winning architect will also appoint the rest of the design team.

BFI is a charitable organization established by Royal Charter to encourage the development of the arts of film, television and the moving image throughout the UK.
