The 150-seat auditorium has been refurbished in 2008 into an advanced classroom equipped with the latest tools for interactive teaching and learning. Almost one fourth of the materials used for upgrading the facility has been produced through recycling whereas about 50% of the materials have been procured locally.
Over 95% of the total wood used was Forest Stewardship Council certified and all the applicable equipments are Energy Star eligible. All the adhesives, sealants, paints, coatings, carpets, furniture and seating used for the facility upgrade are low-emitting materials which cuts down indoor air contaminants. The building’s sustainability has also been increased by diverting over 63% of the construction waste generated on site from landfills.
The College has also applied for LEED for its new fitness centre opened in 2009 which covers an area of 10,000 square feet. The institution also aims for LEED certification for its new science centre, which began construction in May 2011.
