The new stadium will be built on land purchased from the University of the West of England (UWE) with the total development of the two sites costing about £60 million ($98.4 million). The new all-seater arena with a capacity of 20,000 will incorporate a bowl design. The design will enable the facility to utilise the sloping ground which will minimise its height and effect on the skyline cutting down light and noise pollution.
The proposed structure will feature a large supporters’ club bar, a shop and a banqueting and hospitality suite. Other amenities in the stadium will include a convenience store, crèche, gym, jogging track as well as a teaching area spanning about 19,000 square feet. In addition, it will comprise a car parking lot with a capacity to accommodate 1,270 cars and coaches.
The project, due to receive planning permission, will be entirely financed by private enterprises. Work on the new facility is expected to commence in early 2012.
