The renovation of Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza was centred around redesigning new interiors of the mall and adding a vibrant element. The project has rendered several cosmetic improvements as well as added new state-of-the-art movie theatres, several restaurants and retail outlets, and a new outdoor plaza.
Rave Cinemas 15, the new theatre that has opened at Baldwin Hills, is a modern multiplex that includes stadium seating, all-digital projection and seven RealD 3-D equipped auditoriums. The theatre is California’s first Rave to have Rave Extreme: the Big Screen Experience, which includes large wall-to-wall, ceiling-to-floor screens, state-of-the-art sound systems and digital projections.
The project has added a 30,000 square feet promenade between the new Rave Cinemas 15 and the upgraded mall, which doubles as a new featured entry point for the retail centre. The promenade is marked by lush landscaping, new lighting, as well as built-in seating areas. The theatre and the promenade have been designed by Omniplan and RAW International.
The project has also added a new dining court featuring a kids’ seating area, a childrens’ play area, and a new community room. The other work at the mall involved installation of new family restrooms, a new specialty kiosk, cart program and improving the signage of the mall.
In tandem with the renovation of the mall, several retail outlets also carried out renovation scheme, to give their stores a fresh appeal.
