The distribution center is Latin America’s first certified Green Building in the auto-mechanical parts segment. Emphasis was laid on site planning, water and power conservation, correct use of materials, and quality of the work environment to ensure that the facility received green certification.

Construction of the facility was done with minimal impact on the environment. The facility is enclosed by landscaped areas, which, in addition to adding visual appeal to the place, also prevent silting of water sources.

The site has a tank, which captures gray water (rain water) and recycles and re-uses it. The tanks also serve as a flow controller, thwarting large runoff from flowing to the stream that receives rainfall.

The distribution centre has white metal tiles, which reflect sunlight and prevents heating of the indoor spaces. The rock wool filling of the tiles improves the overall insulation of the building both in summers and winters. About 4% of the roof features an area covered with special translucent tiles. These tiles allows light to enter the building while providing insulation from heat.

The office spaces of the distribution centre feature large glass-covered areas, which brings in natural light into the space, thereby reducing the requirement for artificial lighting and power consumption. The building is 40% more power efficient and 30% more water efficient than any comparable building.

Construction of the facility involved usage of almost 53% of the material of recycled origin. To encourage sustainable modes of transportation, the facility has a bike stand, along with locker rooms and showers; and privileged parking spaces for those using low-emitting vehicles or carpooling.
