The Memorial Stadium is the home of Nebraska Cornhuskers football team. The expansion project involves addition of 5,000 seats to the stadium by the 2013 football season.
On 15 October 2010, the University of Nebraska Board of Regents had approved the Memorial Stadium expansion project to enhance the facility’s capacity. The expansion scheme comprises 2,000 to 2,250 new club seats, 400 to 500 seats in about 30 new indoor/outdoor suites and 2,500 to 2,800 general admission seats. This expansion will be built on the stadium’s east side, and will include over 2,000 seats in a covered and heated area, adjacent to an event area and terrace.
A three-storey grand lobby will be created as a central feature of the scheme to preserve and highlight the stadium’s original Gate 20 entrance and its east façade. Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in May 2011 with completion expected by June 2013.
A selection committee consisting of university employees and two external members from the University of Nebraska Project Evaluation Board opted for Clark Enersen from six firms that submitted proposals for the expansion.
Founded in 1946, Clark Enersen has offices in Lincoln; Kansas City, Missouri; and Overland Park, Kansas.
