Clayton ehome is a fully customizable home that features Energy Saver Plus package. Energy Saver Plus homes perform more efficiently than homes built to the Energy Code standards and is proven to save homwowners money. They are certified by a third-party organization authorized by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The ehome is designed to address the changing culture surrounding green building. The ehome is launched as an extension to ‘i-house’, another energy efficient housing line introduced in early 2009.

The ehome leverages the environmentally friendly values of off-site construction. According to Kevin Clayton, CEO of Clayton Homes, the new homes are built in climate-controlled building facilities, which aid in significantly reducing waste. Clayton estimates that construction waste is less than half what a traditional site-built home produces.

The Clayton ehome is equipped with energy-efficient features such as low Energy Star-rated windows and compact fluorescent lighting. Homeowners can maximize the cost savings by customizing their ehome, using the company’s online configuration tool. The homeowner can select from a variety of floor plans, exterior cladding materials, color schemes, kitchens, baths, window placements, and interior design schemes.

The new home comes with a price tag of $49,000. Model homes are open for tours in 100 cities throughout the US.
