For more than 15 years, the trend in office design has been glass construction. Using this material for partitions and walls aesthetically
gives clean modern lines but also has the advantage of letting in a large amount of natural light and energy.
On the flipside however,
this can lead to a lot of discomfort for workers due to the an increase of heat in the office environment, light reflected from glass partitions and
glare from computer screens. As a result there has been a rise in demand for privacy screens with optimal glare and sun protection as well as heat
efficient temperature controls to regulate the atmosphere.
To this end CB has launched the Silver and Steel collections, developed to
solve these problems in the commercial sector as well as being transferrable to the home environment.
The Silver fabric is an enhanced
version of CB’s existing Silver collection. It has a thin aluminium layer on the reverse of fabric and, depending on density, retains a degree
of sheerness. It has high sun reflection minimising incoming light to create glare free lighting. It also diminishes access for thermal energy and
has a protective coating, making it more resistant to water stains, water vapors and dirt.
Fabrics from the Steel collection feature a thin layer of steel on the reverse with miniscule particles fixed by cathartic evaporation. Steel
is darker than aluminium meaning the textiles from this collection reflect less sun light than those from the Silver.
They are however washable, less susceptible to creasing and cracking and have style diversity on woven and knitted fabrics. All fabrics from this
collection are available in a width of three metres.
Reflection and transmission values for each and every colour setting have been established in accordance with prescribed test standards and official
certificates are available on CB’s website. The collection is available from specialist outlets from January 2009 onwards.
