The Legislature has approved the proposed $18 million renovation. Stan State’s objective is to consolidate the clinical lab and office spaces together in one building. A new, state-of-the-art simulation lab will also be created as part of the CSU Stanislaus Science 1 Building renovation. Offices will be positioned in close proximity to classrooms and seminar areas, in order to facilitate faculty and students interaction.
The renovated Science 1 building will house departments from the University’s College of Human & Health Sciences, particularly, Nursing and Social Work. The facility will be designed to bring together the departments’ offices, classrooms, and laboratories, which are currently spread across the 228-acre campus.
Built in 1972, the 50,000 square feet, two-story building is currently in a dilapidated condition and fails to meet rigorous state building codes and seismic standards. The renovation scheme will make the building an energy-efficient facility through energy-efficient lighting, ventilation, water use and waste flow.
