Carroll school board trustees have agreed to upgrade the Dragon Stadium scoreboard. The board will move forward with South Dakota-based Daktronics Sports Marketing (DSM) to design and install a high-tech scoreboard that can show commercials and instant replays. DSM is a service division of Daktronics specializing in raising advertising and sponsorship revenue for colleges, universities, high schools, municipalities and teams from all sports to fund new technology from Daktronics.
Under the contract, Daktronics will pay for the scoreboard, estimated to cost about $850,000. Working in collaboration with the school district’s communications and marketing department, the company will sell advertising rights for the scoreboard. Advertising and sponsorship funds will pay for the project. The score board will be installed along with a new sound system, in time for next football season.
The existing scoreboard was installed when the stadium opened in 2001. The school district is going ahead with stadium expansion work, including installation of 1,600 home-side seats.
