The facility serves as an office and conference area and incorporates a host of eco-friendly features. The design of the building allows optimum penetration of natural light in over 95% of its interior space, thereby helping it run low on energy consumption.

The facility further features a rooftop garden which overlooks the solar field located on a 41-acre area. Utilisation of about 25% of reclaimed materials during the construction process added to the sustainability of the building.

Exelon City Solar, a 10-megawatt solar power plant, is located on a brownfield in the West Pullman neighborhood of Chicago. The facility houses 32,292 solar photovoltaic panels which provides enough clean electricity to up to 1500 homes.
