Phase two of the project designed by Teng and Associates has been estimated at $50 million. The second phase will involve transforming the airport’s concourses A & C, refurbishing the ticketing and the lower levels, the baggage claim and Concourse C’s checkpoint. There will be a raised ceiling on the lower level and a new atrium to connect ticketing and lower levels. The airport will also be equipped with new signs and directories with relocation of security checkpoint to house advanced passenger screening equipment along Concourse C.

Other features included in the project are installation of new columns, programmable LED column caps and new lighting in Terminal 1 along with creation of new baggage claim restrooms and revamp of present restrooms. New bathrooms will be built in the baggage claim and along Concourses A & C. There will be new ticket counters and Terrazzo flooring on the upper level Ticketing Hall in addition to new terrazo flooring, wall tile, countertops and sink fixtures in the concourse restrooms. The project will also feature the St. Louis Stage which is a new performance space in the lower level as well as new art exhibits in the upgraded sections.

Kwame Building Group will deliver program management, design and construction procurement, and design and construction management services for the project with engineering services being provided by Burns & McDonnell. Work is expected to be ready by 2012 end.
